All, This is the CRUCIAL last time to organize for the Software Workshop etc for next week! Date March 18, 2004 Time 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Number of people (12) Phone number 617 258 7910 Agenda: ================================== 1) Performance benchmarks on the QCDOC and GigE cluster for AHM. -- What are available? (See http://physics.bu.edu/~brower/SciDAC/scc.html as usual for the latest results. More are needed!) 2) Agenda for Software Workshop on March 25. (See strawman aggenda attached. Topics and associated names are just examples but we need one person to "chair" each topic.) 3.) Software talk for AHM Friday March 26 9:45AM-10:30AM QCDOC System, Software and Demo (Chulwoo Jung and Bob Mawhinney) 11:20AM-12:20AM SciDAC Software Infrastructure(Rich Brower) Chroma on QCDOC (Robert Edwards) User environment (Don Holmgren) 2:00PM-2:30PM Cluster deployment at JLab (C. Watson) Saturday March 27 9:40AM-10:20AM Application Code using SciDAC Software. Examples for MILC code (James Osborn) --- optimization strategies involving QMP Users view of QDP++ (Kostas Orignos) 4.) Software Tutorial. Saturday March 26 1:30PM --- Till? QIO in a nutshell ---- DeTar(*) QDP/C update ---- James Osborn C++ for dummies ---- Who? QDP++/Chroma ---- Robert Edwards (How do you run it? How do you add new routines?) With the reality of QCDOC hardware and Software Libraries, we need to understand better how to organize testing, installing and distributing software. Where is the source code (tar balls and/or CVS?). Where are the binaries? How do we organize this to share the burden and avoid duplication? This is really part of defining SciDAC Software Infrastructure needs in the era of physics production in a 3 Laboratory "metacenter". Discussion may be most appropriate with a beer in hand at a restaurant in Port Jefferson!
