Theory: Electrons will travel in straight lines, and objects placed in the path of an electron beam can cast shadows.
Description: Set the induction coil to positive polarity. Connect the induction coil to the tube so that the red output of the coil is attached to the top lead of the tube. With the lights dimmed, the shadow of the cross is easily seen on the front of the tube. The cross can be moved out of the path of the beam to show a fully-glowing tube.
Setup time: 10 minutes
